Artificial Intelligence In Malaysia

Introduction

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has arrived! It’s called the current and developing setting in which disruptive technologies and trends like robotics, virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing how we live and work. While AI may seem like something out of a science fiction film, it is already well-integrated into our daily lives. ‘Virtual assistants’ such as Alexa, Siri, and Cortana are all examples of AI that are already well-known. The use of Artificial Intelligence Malaysia in several sectors is examined in this piece, as well as the growth of Malaysia as a global AI hub, and a glimpse of the future of AI.

Artificial Intelligence

Tech giants such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft have been heavily investing in AI research. The use of AI leads to the development of technologies that facilitate automation and process optimisation . Other well-known companies invested in or utilising AI are Apple, Facebook, Alibaba Group Holding Limited (China’s largest e-commerce company), Netflix, Tesla, Uber and Siemens.

The simulation of human cognitive processes by machines, especially computer systems, is known as AI. These activities involve learning (the acquisition of information – “Big Data” and rule for utilizing it), decision-making (using rules to arrive at preliminary or certain conclusions) and self-correction. Expert systems, speech recognition, and automated vision are some examples of AI.

Healthcare

The conventional stethoscope is updated with Stethee Pro, a strategic partnership between the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology (Crest), and M3DICINE, which was aided by the Telemedicine Development Group (TDG). Stethee Pro is an AI-enabled stethoscope. With this feature, heart and lung sounds can be recorded and transmitted to a smart device such as a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth technology for more detailed and accurate study. These recordings are then examined to construct each patient’s unique biometric signature and identify the presence of heart or lung illnesses. The Stethee AI engine is powered by Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and Machine Learning (M.L.). A health care professional can review patient records and prescribe medication based on the information which is keyed in, while high-risk patients do not need to be seen by a doctor every time they visit the hospital.

Aida then uses the data to produce quantitative, clinically actionable information for doctors, veterinarians, and health-care providers. The Stethee Pro has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for use by medical and healthcare professionals.

Fashion

Simultaneous Artificial Response and Action (SARA)

SARA with a user-friendly add-on that provides fashion enterprises with services, including body profiling using only an A4 paper, fashion analytics and retail reports, has been developed by Saratix and Custlr.

Custlr, an online clothing customizing business that uses a crowd-sourced engine to generate apparel, will use AI fashion technology to focus on problems affecting its internet businesses such as inventory holdings, conversion rates, and targeted consumer purchases. Saratix’s AI and A4 method can rapidly measure a person’s size with a smartphone, which is opposed to the usual height-based profiles that use weight and height. Deep Learning Neural Network and machine learning are used in SARA. It was created with the assistance of academics, students, software and engineering specialists from various Malaysian institutions. SARA’s algorithm analyzes and creates reports that assist companies in growing faster and reducing return rates. Saratix is partnering with Malaysia-based system and software development solutions firm, BESTWEB Technologies, to create a more intelligent AI.

Legal

Sabah’s Digital and Artificial Intelligence Legal Aid Centre

In Sabah, Malaysia’s first Digital and Artificial Intelligence Legal Aid Centre will be established to give legal advice to the public. The center is expected to open in November at Grand Merdeka Shopping Mall in Telipok, about 21 kilometers from the state capital. Users can obtain statutes, case law, text books, agreements, forms and precedents by simply filling out an online form, uploading documents or emailing the agency.

However, according to Lawyer Marcel Jude, one of the organizers of the facility, while legal assistance is provided for free, users will be required to pay for access to the computer services.

The Sabah Legal Aid Centre is expected to be the first in a series of digital centres across Malaysia. Digital assistants are already utilising artificial intelligence technologies in legal systems around the world, including Australia, France and the United States.

Conclusion

Artificial Intelligence is defined as the capability of machines to imitate human behavior. It’s an extremely broad term that incorporates many fields of study, especially machine learning and data science, which are used in AI research.

AI is gradually but surely being incorporated into a variety of sectors all around the world. It’s clear that Malaysia has made significant progress in improving the way healthcare and fashion industries function today. This comes as no surprise, given the spirit of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which aims to disrupt and even result mortality rates. With this comes increased pressure for the next generation of engineers to build new tools that can solve some of these problems.
